Bernard is a Scioly.org administrator from Washington state who is also involved with Science Olympiad at the local and national levels.
About
Bernard attended Interlake High School in Bellevue, WA from 2011 to 2015 and joined Science Olympiad during his freshman year, competing at the state tournament each year. During his junior and senior years, he was president of his school's Science Olympiad organization and was involved in many endeavors including founding a Science Olympiad summer camp, organizing the team's first tryouts, and planning the inaugural Interlake Invitational.

Bernard participated in the events Air Trajectory, Anatomy and Physiology, Boomilever, Bridge Building, Disease Detectives, Elastic Launched Glider, Gravity Vehicle, Mission Possible, Scrambler, Wright Stuff, and Write It Do It. He is knowledgeable about other Division C events, especially build events which are his favorite, and he can often be seen posting to the build event forums.
After graduating high school, bernard attended the University of Washington (UW) in Seattle, WA, where he earned his B.S. in Bioengineering. At the UW, with Metasepia_pfefferi he founded Science Olympiad at the University of Washington which from 2017–2019 hosted regional tournaments for Washington state's Northwest region.
Bernard joined Scioly.org's staff in May 2015, becoming lead administrator in November 2015. Since 2016, bernard has also served on the national Technology & Engineering Rules Committee.

Scioly.org Improvement Projects

- Creating an application for the Test Exchange that organizes file attributes (e.g. event, tournament, year) and supports uploads, better search, and moderation (June 2018–Present)
- Creating an application for scheduling site-wide banners and adding support for banners across the site (September 2020–Present)
- Reviewing, redoing, and documenting Discord permissions for consistency across categories, channels, and roles (September 2019–Present)
- Server cleanup: updating code around the site to reference the same templates for consistency and easier maintenance; making the site experience more cohesive, e.g. referencing the same styling and navigation bar across all pages, making logins redirect to original application (September 2018–Present)
- Improving Scioly.org's social media presence on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram (November 2016–Present)
- Running annual season "rollovers" (August 2017–Present)
- Editing the Wiki, focusing on page cleanups and creating missing pages such as Digital Structures and SkyCiv (February 2014–Present)
- Adding easter eggs around Scioly.org for fun (March 2020–Present)

- Reattempting to install Extension:VisualEditor for MediaWiki to the Scioly.org Wiki for a more beginner-friendly editing experience
- Improving site SEO and updating page meta tags so that social media thumbnails are page-specific, e.g. when linked in Facebook or Discord
- Rewriting SSSS to be a subapplication of the Test Exchange to carry over Test Exchange upgrades and allow easier SSSS file migration to the public Test Exchange (April 2021)
- Rewriting Prediction Contest (scioly.org/fantasy) with a more intuitive staff-end UI (e.g. setting events, tournaments, dates) and cached results for faster load times (April 2021)
