Welcome to the Science Olympiad Student Center, also known as Scioly.org! Here you can collaborate with students, alumni, tournament staff, and others from the Science Olympiad community on topics regarding all things Science Olympiad! Check out the forums board to discuss ideas, the wiki to grow your knowledge, and the Discord server to talk with others from the community! Over the past two decades, the site has supported students and organizations throughout the nation.

How do I get started?

The main homepage of Scioly.org.
The red squares will take you to the forums.
The blue squares will take you to the wiki, test exchange, Discord link, and login page.

When you first navigate to the site, you will see a homepage with a variety of squares and headers. These take you to various areas around the site.

Forum

The forum is where you can hang out, ask questions, and quiz yourself. The users there will help you to better understand the ins and outs of Science Olympiad, and can answer most questions you could ever have. There are several subsections that each need a little explaining.

Event Forums

These subforums are dedicated to talking about every event in Science Olympiad. Have a question about your Gravity Vehicle? Someone in there will know. They are broken up by event in three main sections, Build Events, Lab Events, and Study Events. Build Events consist of events such as Mission Possible, where you construct a device to perform a task. A Lab Event adds a test element while typically making a smaller creation, such as Machines. The Study Events are purely test-based events, such as Dynamic Planet.

Question Marathons

The Question Marathons are a style of quizzing. One user will ask a few questions, and another user will respond with their answers hidden. They check answers, and then the user who answered the problems now asks some more questions, and anyone can jump in and answer them. This creates a chain of short quizzes that can provide countless practice problems to try.

Competition Forums

This is where you can go to find out past results, talk about future tournaments, and discover new invitationals to attend. Be sure to check out the legendary Illinois 2014!

Off Topic Forums

Here you will find countless polls, games, and epic conversations. Be sure to try classic Scioly games such as Corrupt-A-Wish or attempt to make it through Your Daily Random Comment all in one day (good luck!). Another popular Scioly tradition is the Assassinator thread, where a mafia-like game is played out with all sorts of twists and turns.

Wiki

Most people that have competed in Science Olympiad have seen the Scioly.org wiki. The wiki is known for having an abundance of the basic information of all the events which serve as a really good diving board for learning more about those respective events. You can also browse through the countless team, tournament, or help pages to build your Scioly knowledge.

User Pages

Scioly.org also has Userpages, where users can create custom pages to talk about themselves in any way that they like (that's appropriate obviously). Many users record their past placements here, or rank their favorite events. They can be quite bland, such as User:BennyTheJett or quite complicated, such as User:Nydauron or User:Pepperonipi.

Chat

The Scioly Discord is where you can go to talk with fellow Science Olympians, post memes, or just hang out. The discord is open to be joined by all coaches, students, or grads.
