Hello, wonderful person who's reading this!!!

This is Rachel12's userpage. She is a sophomore at Whitney Young Magnet High School. Science is one of her main passions, and she enjoys learning a bunch of new interesting things.

Rachel12 attends Federal Bird Intelligence.

This was Rachel12's first year of SciOly, so she didn't do very well... as you can see in the placements above :( Her only two main events were Disease Detectives and Designer Genes, both of which were fun. She had to fill in for Ornithology last minute, and all the birds looked the same so basically she was unable to do the majority of the test. Due to COVID, all competitions were remote, so she was unable to experience any fun activities that would normally happen at in-person competitions. She was on the JV team also, meaning she wasn't able to go to state that year.

Sophomore year!! :) This year, Rachel12 focused more on test-writing and event supervising, because she found it was a lot more fun compared to competing. She got to write and ES for a lot of tournaments, which was an amazing experience, and she hopes to continue writing throughout high school - and possibly as an alumni. She still hasn't been to an in-person invite and wishes to go to one... someday. While still not being able to attend an actual in-person invite was disappointing, Rachel12 got to experience satellite tournaments (a lot better than mini) and also was able to go to state this year! She is most proud of getting 4th at state for Forensics, which she thought was her weakest event. Despite the fact the suspect names were changed throughout the test, it was still fun. Trajectory was a complete mess with the device breaking either right before or during the competition, and Rachel12 isn't sure if she wants to deal with doing another build event again ;-; WIDI was slightly boring since it was more of drawing than actually having building, but overall it was a much more fun year!

According to her friends, Rachel12 doesn't get enough sleep because apparently frequent all-nighters and anything less than 8 hours is not sufficient. So she will sleep... later. :)
