An awards ceremony is the process of the competition results getting released. They are often presented in a slideshow format, to show the winners for each event and division. They can be very intense, as competitors get very nervous and tense for their placements. There is also a lot of cheering for teammates, and for yourself, if you accomplished something that's important to you. There is also some booing, especially between rival schools. Awards usually happen right after the testing in in-person tournaments, but happen in a week or so for virtual tournaments. There is a common sentiment that awards are always delayed... rightfully so.
Virtual Awards Ceremonies
During the 2020–2021 and 2021–2022 seasons, with the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, many tournaments from the invitational to national levels were hosted virtually. These tournaments hosted either in the Mini SO or Satellite formats, many with awards ceremonies streamed on YouTube after the tournament. Some of these virtual awards ceremonies are linked below.
