Sciolycoach is a former Science Olympiad competitor from Wisconsin who started with the Elementary Science Olympiad in Menomonie in 1994 and has had nearly every possible Science Olympiad position over the past 27 years, including competitor in Divisions A, B, and C, regional event supervisor, state event supervisor, assistant coach, head coach, invitational tournament director, regional tournament director, and national event supervisor. Sciolycoach has a great passion for Science Olympiad and the tremendous opportunities provided to students through this program.
Middle School Events
In Menomonie before the new middle school was constructed, elementary school included students in grade six, and only students in grades seven and eight were eligible to be involved with the Division B Science Olympiad team. Menomonie used to have a process of qualifying for the team and many students were cut, including Sciolycoach in his seventh grade year, 1997, which directly leads to his no-cut policy as a coach. In eighth grade Sciolycoach competed at the Division B Wisconsin State tournament.

Event Supervising During College
Sciolycoach came back in 2003 as an assistant event supervisor for Practical Data Gathering at the Wisconsin State Tournament at UW-Stout. In 2004 he came back to Menomonie High School to supervise both Physics Lab and Nuclear Science Lab at the first ever West Regional Tournament, again supervising both events at the 2005 West Regional Tournament as well.
Start of Coaching
While finishing his teaching license Sciolycoach was an assistant coach for Menomonie High School in 2006, focusing on coaching the Physics and build events. Menomonie finished as the third place team at the state tournament at UW-Madison, with the awards ceremony being held at Madison West High School. When announced as a team place winner Sciolycoach was also invited on stage as an assistant coach, leading to an almost legendary situation of clumsiness that is he is still reminded of even today by the Menomonie High School head coach.
Sciolycoach became the new head coach at Athens High School for the 2007 season, helping form the team from scratch with the help of many other teachers, students, and parents.
For the 2008 season Sciolycoach became the head coach at Boyceville High School and started hosting the first ever invitational that fall. The Boyceville Middle School team was introduced for the 2009 season.
National Science Olympiad Tournaments
When Menomonie High School won the Wisconsin Division C State Tournament in 2008, Sciolycoach and three other alumni were invited to attend the national tournament as assistant coaches for Menomonie at George Washington University. He was also invited to attend the 2009 National Tournament at Augusta State University with Menomonie High School before first volunteering in Elevated Bridge at the 2010 National Tournament at the University of Illinois.
Sciolycoach has attended every national tournament since 2008, and has been a national event supervisor for a variety of different events since 2011. Often times, students, alumni, and parents from Boyceville attend as well as a volunteers in a variety of different events, giving students the opportunity to observe a National Tournament and tour a college campus, and learn under some of the best event supervsiors in the nation.
