Test Reviews

STAR Test System

For those who don't know what STAR is, NYSSO chose this for their regionals and state competition during the 2020-21 season (which is all virtual)
Another testing system I've used is Scilympiad, which is far superior compared to STAR, even though it too has some problems.
I don't know why NYSSO could've worked with Scilympiad to make it fit NY privacy laws
The process to submit the test was extremely confusing, barely avoided getting DQ'd because of it. The process was stupidly long
For the regionals, I realize that some of the formating was reused for the test
Also during the regionals, the dropbox for receiving the test was bottlenecked as a result of the STAR system, causing delays in testing, I had to start 10 mins after the passwords were dropped.
The fact that you had to keep refreshing the page in order to get the passwords for the test was annoying too, the NYSSO page went down as a result of all the traffic
Basically, chaos ensued, hell went loose. Hopefully this doesn't occur again for States, but I doubt it won't
