Calcnite joined the Strath Haven Middle School Science Olympiad team in the late fall of 2009, at the urging of his mother, of all people. Calcnite has competed in three different competitions and only 4 separate events, but joined the Strath Haven team's first trip to Nationals on May 20.

In 2010, Calcnite set an unofficial school record for the most annoying team member of the year, for a variety of reasons, including, but not limited to: Endless stupidity.
