2018-19 (8th Grade, Division B)

New Albany Regionals States
Dynamic Planet 1st 1st 7th
Meteorology 3rd 1st 2nd
Mystery Architecture* 5th 28th
Solar System 5th 5th
Team 5th 1st 5th

After being peer-pressured into picking scioly over mathcounts (meeting dates for both clubs conflicted so we had to pick one over the other), I picked Dynamic Planet (glaciers), Meteorology, and Solar System and started grinding (not true). When the first mock invite came around (to determine rosters for Centerville invite), my cheatsheets consisted of a few columns of notes with answers from practice tests scattered throughout. Despite this, I somehow did okay in meteo and solar, but I was crushed in dp.

Unfortunately we weren't allowed to attend Centerville because it was snowing (rip), but this meant that we'd have another mock invite before New Albany invite. During that time I finally started taking scioly seriously, and managed to do better at the second mock invite. After New Albany, we were pretty intent on making nats, and although we didn't actually qualify, we managed to place 5th at states, breaking our previous record.

First year at Mason High School! Joining high school scioly seemed pretty intimidating at first, but it was super chill once I joined. I picked Astronomy, Dynamic Planet (oceanography), and Fossils (although I was terrible at it lmao). I grinded an unhealthy amount of astro over the summer and up until Northview before realizing that I had other events too. I was drafted into code at Northview and I figured that I might as well keep it up for the rest of the season, although I was never great at it. My freshman season went well enough, although it definitely could've been better and I'm not sure if I would've actually made the states team. Rip coronavirus

1We lost 100 points due to a grading error and were ranked 25th, would've been 3rd without the error.

+ MY SO Space 3rd

Season started off pretty strong, I main astronomy now. My sole purpose is to keep my astro partner's gold streak going ig lmao

Also writing for SSSS and Mason invite was super cool, very hyped for more test writing next year

Mason winning nats was epic, rip heyo's astro streak though lmao. Never thought fossils would be my best event at nats
