Talk:Trial Event
My understanding of this page is that the "Years Run (Nationally)" section in the table is used to indicate that former trial events were run as official events on the national level (see: Code Busters or Hovercraft). If that's the case, should events such as Hydrogeology and Roller Coaster be added to the table in order to show that they were formerly trial events? If these events are added to this page then should they also have the Trial Event Pages category, or is that just for events that have never been run officially on the national level? --Jaspattack (talk) 22:56, 11 January 2019 (UTC)
My view on this is: official events that used to be trial events can be added to show what years they were run as trials, as a way to show the progression that events can take to get to official status. Based on the looks of things, events that have been run officially no longer are included under the Trial Event Pages category, unless they are currently being run as a notable trial event (i.e. multiple tournaments or nationals). One of the other wikimods can chime in if they have a different view. EastStroudsburg13 (talk) 16:58, 12 January 2019 (UTC)
Adding the infobox creates a bit of an awkward chunk of blank space:
Is there any way around this or is this acceptable? --CookiePie1 (talk) 23:29, 15 October 2020 (UTC)CookiePie1
- I think it's fine. The only real way to get around that is to expand the opening section of the page (which I think needs to be done anyways) so I've gone ahead and added the sidebar to the page. For the record, when adding a template to the page you can just include the name of the template within curly brackets (like {{SO Navbox}} instead of just including the entire template code on the page. It's a lot easier that way. --jaspattack 🧬 (talk) 14:47, 16 October 2020 (UTC)
Would it be worthwhile if a fourth column is made on the table to indicate the category of the event (inquiry/engineering/earthscience/etc.) or does that seem unnecessary? Booknerd (talk) 04:48, 18 October 2020 (UTC)
- Feels unnecessary in my opinion - oftentimes the area the event falls into can be discerned pretty easily from its name. However, adding a column for a one-sentence description of the event could be useful. Not sure how to format it, though. --jaspattack 🧬 (talk) 05:42, 18 October 2020 (UTC)
