State College Junior High School was a Division B team in Pennsylvania. They were the dominant team in the state in the later half of the 1990s, winning the state title every year from 1993 to 1999. They also won the national tournament in 1994 and 1995, and they remain the only B Division team from Pennsylvania to win a national title. They also placed in the top 3 in the nation every year from 1994 to 1999. In both years that the team placed second, J.C. Booth Middle School placed first.
State College Junior High fed into State College Area High School, which also experienced great success in the late 1990s, though not to the same extent.
School Split
In 2000, State College's streak of success was cut short, as they split into two middle schools, Park Forest Middle School and Mount Nittany Middle School, due to increasing enrollment. Although the two subsequent teams have been competitive in the state at times, neither team has qualified for the national tournament since the split. Park Forest has tended to be the more successful of the two, and reached a peak of 4th place in 2012, but Mount Nittany has also experienced periods of success, with a 6th place finish in 2011.
