Background

Mentor High School, located in Mentor, Ohio, is a very successful Science Olympiad team. Often considered a national powerhouse due to their ability to place in the top 10 at the national tournament when they qualify (which is often a point of contest considering they must beat out arguably two of the top teams in Science Olympiad history in Solon and Centerville), they have recently proven themselves one of the top three teams in the state of Ohio.

They have qualified for the national tournament four times (2007, 2009, 2015, 2017), placing 5th in 2007 and 7th in 2009. They have qualified for every Ohio state tournament since 1990. In 2017, they took 1st at the state tournament for the first time in history.
