Bag of Bones is a Division B and Division C trial event which was last run at the 2017 Pennsylvania state tournament. The event tests competitor's knowledge of the skeletal system and the composition of bones.

The Event

Bag of Bones takes the form of a set of stations, where students spend the same amount of time at each stations. Only 50% of the test can be based upon identification. Competitors will also be required to identify a certain amount of bones by touch only depending on the level of competition - one bone at regional tournaments, two to three at state tournaments, and three to four at national tournaments. Competitors will be disqualified for looking at these bones. Certain bones may also take the form of fragments in Division C - in Division B, all bones must be whole. The only exception is bones which must be identified by touch - all bones identified by touch must be whole regardless of division.
