Team Event Average Qualified For Nationals
Hey I was wondering in the past, what have teams placed on average in State competitions? I figure its somewhere around 3.0 or 4.0 depending on how many teams are competing...

Re: Team Event Average Qualified For Nationals
to actually go, in most states the team must be 1st or 2nd overall
point wise that is usually 90 - 120, depending on the state
average placing in events is usually 2nd to 4th place
but if i figured it out right, if a team gets 5th and up in all of their events, then they will probably place in the top 2

Yeah, it's definitely going to be somewhat higher in more competitive states (OH, PA, NY, and MI) than lesser ones.
Indiana...usually the first place div C team is about 120 (5th average) but last year:
Div C (first) - 95 pts - 4.13
Div C (second) - 97 pts - 4.22
Div B (first) - 100 pts - 4.35
Div B (second) - 102 pts - 4.43

We got 1st in NY the past 2 years: 2007 our average place was 5th-something, and last year it was 7.3-ish.

Re: Team Event Average Qualified For Nationals
It's going to depend a lot on how many teams are at states. I think Connecticut had four last year - to win, you probably had to average 2nd or better. With more teams you would not to such a low average.
