FireFox 3
In case you didn't know, there is a new version of FireFox. I have noticed the rendering engine is a lot faster. Anyone else have any thoughts on it?

Re: FireFox 3
I like it...can't say I've found anything to be particularly inspiring.
The only extensions that survived the transition were:
Greasemonkey
PDF Download
Google Notebook
FlashGot
Domain Details
Tab Mix Plus
FEBE, Flash Switcher, Google Browser Sync, and Google Send to Phone all got axed by FF3.

Re: FireFox 3
Firefox 2 was fine for me. I am not completely used to Firefox 3 yet. Also, it seems to be a lot more strict with the SSL certificate stuff...

Re: FireFox 3
Having been with Firefox 3 for a few months now (thanks to the various beta versions and then release candidates), I've grown quite fond of the browser. I certainly don't claim to use the number of extensions as others, so that particular area was not a problem for me.
My particular love of FF3 comes from the memory use. Being a Vista user (a pitiful status, mind you), I'll take anything that speeds up my computing experience. When SP1 finally comes out to the public (and not in a buggy form), I will dance with glee and sing a happy song. Firefox helps me (somewhat) by being so much less memory intensive. That means a lot to a Vista user. It starts up nicely, runs nicely, and even gets Gmail to open without much hassle. Furthermore, there have been few crashes of the browser in all of its forms. This is a very positive aspect.
In terms of interface, things are familiar and still very nice. Also, the new address bar is very spiffy, remembering my general browsing habits. The Bookmarks also seem to be better managed, offering a greater ease of freedom there.
And, as a true bonus, scroll-overs are not cut off. That's right xkcd fans! You can finally quit right-clicking on the image every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday!
I know it's slightly pathetic that I've included such a thing as a browser selling point, but it's just a nice touch.

Re: FireFox 3
I to am a vista user and it sucks. Vista even manages to butcher up the Windows Standard visual style with its ugly folders and stuff. The icons suck too.. anyway, I just checked and FF is only using like 60mb of my ram!! thats awesome considering I have over 10 tabs open.

I have no reason to switch, 2 works fine for me. I've got some extensions too...I don't know how they'll transfer over...

Re: FireFox 3
The new Cairo rendering engine is nice, as is more standards compliance. Additionally, there are now native widgets on Linux and OS X. Still, I feel that the default setup is like a starved squirrel - cute, but bloated in the wrong areas and lacking in the parts I like (no more analogies from me, I promise). Still, it won't tide me over from Opera 9.5 just because Ff3 can't touch the speed and customizability of Opera without putting that squirrel through some bulimia-fueled binge eating of features and optimizations.
Aside from the browser itself, the Firefox fanboyism is downright annoying. I'm repeating myself, but the setting world record for downloads in a day thing was just totally inane. I mean, it's nice if you like something and you try to spread the word, but this is going too far. What's next, Firefox tattoos? Graffiti'ing the fox onto buildings? Making Firefox crop circles in the middle of Redmond, WA? It's a piece of software, not a cultural revolution.
