Does anyone know what a rank 144 would mean for a write event when the total number of schools that participated is only 122?

Traditionally, if a team does not participate in an event or gets disqualified, they get the "number of teams +1" for their rank. The Award Ceremony Video for the HG Invitational says that 143 teams were invited to compete. I think it might mean that 21 teams did not accept the invite and did not participate.
