Re: Washington 2020
Involving last year's Eastern Regional results for Division B (https://scioly.org/wiki/images/2/26/WA_ ... esults.pdf):
Libby Middle School B-67 and Colton Middle School Blue B-42 are both shown as placing 7th in Density Lab. However, I think there was a typo in entering results, and I believe one of them actually placed 17th. If there was an exact tie, then correct scoring would result in no 8th place being awarded. However, there is another team that is shown to have placed 8th. Also, there was a 16th and an 18th awarded to other teams in that event, yet no 17th.
I added up the scores for both teams to double-check, and got the same totals on the spreadsheet. If Libby Middle School B-67 had placed 17th, they would have a score of 265 instead of 255, dropping them from 11th to 12th, behind Colton Blue. If Colton Middle School Blue B-42 placed 17th, they would drop from 264 to 274 points, they would move into a tie for 12th with Frontier Middle School White B-20 and Lincoln Middle School White B-76, upon which they would lose the tiebreaker to both teams, ultimately leaving them in 14th overall.
