Going into invasive species just for participation points and putting down "big fluffy muffins" for like 20 answers.

LOL same happened to me but for hovercraft. We decided to start doing drawings and got a laugh from the event supervisor. (physics question about freefall and we draw a guy falling of a cliff to his doom. )Anomaly wrote:Going into invasive species just for participation points and putting down "big fluffy muffins" for like 20 answers.

Re: Those moments you will never forget!
2017 States in Road Scholar: My partner had this really loud cough that I'm sure the whole room could hear (we were in the corner, but still, it wasn't that big of a room). Anyway, I'm used to that, because we'd practiced together enough. So during the test, he somehow cuts himself on one of the maps, saying loudly, "I got a paper cut!" The ES looks and him, asking "Is it bleeding?" "No", he replies. So during all that I just keep taking the test, not really getting distracted, while most of the other competitors do. We end up in 2nd. I'm sure the team that beat us was in the other time slot.
"Blessed are you when people insult you and persecute you, and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of Me. Rejoice and be glad, for your reward in heaven is great; for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you." Matthew 5:11-12
I have no regrets.

Every invasive competition: loudly saying emrald ash borer for every single possible station except for the one station that was emrald ash borer
Invasive regionals 2016: Trying to get my partner to remove answers like deez nuts so we wouldn't possibly be DQed
States 2018: Guessing half the matsci stuff, screwing up every step in the lab and somehow medals
Like every invite this year: breaking some sort of safely procedure, accidentally leaving with the tests etc and never got punished
Experimental: putting 3 fillers in for MIT doesn't work well.....

Lost points in Hovercraft because we forgot to bring eye protection. Our coach was not happy.

Also, the moment the same person was briefly locked inside a closet

Re: Those moments you will never forget!
Here's a few of my favorites:
When your robot arm stops working 1 hour before the event and you turn it into a "kicker" that slaps the closest stack of pennies forwards and you win third (I don't understand how this happened.)
When you have more astronomy medals at state than from invitationals (1>0)
When you and the rest of your team's board literally hand a pair of kids on B team the mats sci notes day of the competition, and they win first place in mats sci overall, beating your main team. (a pair of freshman no less...)
EDIT:
My astronomy medal count at state is now 2 (6th place in 2017, 3rd place 2018). My astronomy medal count at invitationals is still 0. I'm shooting for 3 and 0...
EDIT: Dammit I won astro at an invite.
