What would be heavy mass range?

Post by hsjoshi1 »

4.a.iii : The light mass will have a total mass between 100g and 300g and be increments of 25g at regionals.
4.a.iv : The heavy mass will have a total mass between 200g and 300 g heavier than the light mass at increments of 1.0 g.

Does it mean heavy mass will have a `total mass between 200g and 300 g`
In this case upper limit for heavier mass is 300g

OR

Does that mean heavy mass will be 200g to 300 g heavier than the light mass ?
In this case range for heavier mass 300 gms and 600 gms.

Which one is correct?

The second one (300g to 600g) sounds more likely to me. I agree that it's a bit of a strange choice for the rules to only specify the range on a relative basis - there are no published Rules Corrections or Clarifications addressing this, so I think it may be worthwhile to submit a question and see if they will answer.
