1. Explain briefly what a solenoid is and what it does when connected to a battery (For instance, for a resistor "opposes current," could be an answer).
2. Who invented this device?
3. Find voltage RT in the following circuit.

Impedance is the complete opposition of the flow of current, unlike resistance, which only slows the speed of the flow of current. It is commonly described as the "resistance to AC current." It is used in capacitors and inductors in the form of reactance, which are used in a variety of appliances, as well as numerous other applications.

1. Consider a parallel-plate capacitor with a capacitance of 5 mF and plate area of 30 cm, connected to a 1.5-volt battery. Calculate the energy density of the capacitor.
2. Describe what happens to an LED when it exceeds its forward current rating.
3. Find the voltage at nodes 3 and 4.
