Re: Water Quality B/C
Anyone know how I can study for Water Quality? I was just newly put into it because of timings and I know nothing about it.

If you don't have notes, make them. Just go down the event sheet list and learn the terms. I'd also work on making a salinometer, because that's a 10 percent you really can't afford to give away. Other than that it's just the bio (which sucks in my opinion).

Re: Water Quality B/C
So basically my first competition is in 15 days and no one has anything down for WQ so I have to do the notes. What are the most important things that I need to study?
anything would help!

Re: Water Quality B/C
I would say start by familiarizing yourself with the appearance of all the coral reef indicators, and then looking through the wiki for the water monitoring. Khan academy or a life science textbook will have a lot of the marine ecology. (Although it can be easily looked up as well!) Since your in div B, all the tests I've seen I've had plenty of time to finish so I would focus more on trying to cover more topics then memorizing it since you can look at your cheat sheet.
Good luck at your competition

Does anyone have tips for building a digital salinometer?
Can anyone who has done it let me know how long it takes and if it is worth the effort?

Re: Water Quality B/C
tips from a previous water quality contestant:
1. study from the study guide/hand out from science Olympiad website.
Water Quality Training Overview Handout
Water Quality Estuary Handout
Water Quality Marine Handout
Water Quality Marine Chemistry Handout
Water Quality Coral Reef Handout
Water Quality Salinometer Handout)
2. study from wiki
3. study from textbooks. marine and estuary pages from any high school environmental science text book (this will have water treatment, carbon, and all cycles and water layering, thermocline all that stuff), and marine and estuary pages from any high school geology textbook, or earth science textbook. also study basic ecology from a biology textbook, high school level.
4. study from practice tests, all possible tests you can get your hands on.
all the best!
