List two methods for making an Experimental Control and when they appropriate to use.
Just confirmed: my topics for this year are the Statement of Problem, Hypothesis, Variables, Experimental Control, and Conclusion. Quite different from last year, which was Quantitative Data(table and graph), statistics, and Errors...crying inside
Reviving the forum yay
idk if this is right but here goes
1) when your independent variable has values, (such as 2 marbles, 4 marbles, 6 marbles) the control would be zero (so, 0 marbles)
2) when your independent variable has levels, (such as paper towel, printer paper, plastic bag) the control would be the medium value (so,
the printer paper because it is medium thickness)
8th grade: I knew stuff about rocks, minerals, experiments, and ecosystems!
9th grade: I knew stuff about amphibians, reptiles, freshwater, and experiments!
10th grade: I knew stuff about oceanography, saltwater, birds, and fossils!
11th grade: I knew stuff about birds and fossils!

That works, but it isn't something that I would normally use. Your turn!
Okay so I'm not exactly sure if these are good questions but here goes
1. What are 3 examples of qualitative observations?
2. What would be the independent and dependent variables and hypothesis in this experiment? (topic: parachutes... yes I am aware this experiment already exists)
- plastic bag
- newspaper
- printer paper
- paper towel
- one small plastic cup
- string
- 10 marbles

1. In a thermal energy experiment...
- We noticed that the ice cube didn't melt parallel to the heat plate
- We noticed that the ice cube's temperature never exceeded 0 degrees Celsius
- We noticed that the heat plate didn't return to its temperature it was before we started the experiment
2. How does the material of a parachute affect the time it takes to fall to the ground from a fixed height?

1. What's the difference between a qualitative experiment and a quantitative experiment?
2. How would the differences be represented in the quantitative data section (including data table and graph)?

Hijacking this thread a little, but you don't need to put your questions in hide tags

1. What's the difference between a qualitative experiment and a quantitative experiment?
2. How would the differences be represented in the quantitative data section (including data table and graph)?
1. A qualitative experiment would have levels of the independent variable (i.e. copy paper, newspaper, lined paper) and a quantitative experiment would have amount (i.e. 3 marbles, 4 marbles, 5 marbles)
2. Qualitative experiment table- separate data for trials of each level of the IV
Quantitative experiment table- data for trials of each amount
Qualitative experiment graph- depending on the amount of levels, x amount of lines on the graph
Quantitative experiment graph- one line on the graph
