During the event can my parents watch me doing it, because I don't want them to have to stay there all day if they can't even watch the event?

I'm pretty sure it depends on the supervisor, but I'm going to assume that they wouldn't let your parents stay in the room while you were taking the written test. Also, what's so exciting about watching your kid put hot water in a box and take a test? =P

That really depends a on the competition, though I'd guess no
Chances are that you'll be doing everything in a classroom in which no one else will be allowed inside

Do increments of 10 mL.
State testing was so messed up...they took out the thermometer before it had hit thermal equilibrium--the temperature was still rising.

Physics is difficult for 99% of the world's population because they don't understand it. The other 1% know too much.

I'm new to this event and I came in with a partner who already created their insolator. I don't need info on that, but I'm having a hard time finding good places to learn the material. I'm still trying to learn as much as I can. We are going to state soon and it would be better this time if I could know as much as possible along with the binder.

Are there any good sites or books on thermodynamics and vocabulary. Please and Thank You! :P

Just look through the old pages. Someone asked the same question on the previous page. Above are some links that were posted in response to their question.

I am a B coach and I've been reading all the pages and I just have a couple of clarifications . . . (I know these aren't official, I just want everyone else's opinion).

Would puffed wheat (The non-sugar kind you can buy in cereral isle of the grocery market) be okay in the device?

My kids kept ripping the aluminum foil out of their device so we opted for foil tape . . . what is everyone's thinking here on it? Legal? Not legal?

Finally, so according to the national rules clarification, they can bring a thermomter and test the water temperature right after it has been inserted into the device, correct?

Thanks!

Unofficially, puffed wheat is an organic granular material, foil tape is NOT the same as aluminum foil (since it often has a plastic layer), and most tournament will follow the FAQ regarding the thermometer, but it's not guaranteed.

[quote]I agree if u use foil tape it would be subjected to being put in teir two, or DQed..... tin foil can generally accomplish the same thing...... BEST OF LUCK!!!!! :geek:
