Biology Blitz is a Division B and Division C event that was first run as a trial event at the 2009 Missouri state tournament. It was also run at the 2010 Missouri and Texas state tournaments, as well as the 2011 Texas state tournament where it was held as BioBlitz.
The Event
This event is based around identification of common plants, animals, protists, and fungi. It can be run as a PowerPoint presentation or in stations, and participants are given a sheet to record their answers on. The answer sheet will have three columns: one for the name of the organism, one for the phylum/class of the organism, and another for a specified fact about the organism (as needed). The team with the highest amount of correct answers is the winner.
