Hi everyone,

I am an incoming PhD student at the University of Chicago. I am planning on starting a Science Olympiad student organization once I arrive. Are there any UChicago students on here who would be interested in helping me start this organization? Please message me (or post below) and we can exchange contact information.

Ideally, we would plan on holding an invitational in the winter of 2017-2018. Until then, we would volunteer at surrounding invitationals and slowly begin planning. I personally need this time to become acclimated to Hyde Park!

I am one of the co-founders of the Cornell Science Olympiad Invitational, so rest assured, I have a good idea of what I'm doing Go register for Cornell's invitational once it opens!

Did you realize the National Office is based in Chicago? As are the IL state directors? You should definitely try reaching out to them (contact info is on soinc.org)

Always nice to see new University level invitationals open up. Too bad my school won't be going, as we aren't that competitive.

We would definitely be interested in attending (we are located in central Indiana).

Ooh, if this actually happens it could finally be a really competitive tournament near me. Too bad I will graduate before then.

I think Tad Komacek (tad_k_22 I believe), one of the national event proctors for Astronomy, goes to or went to UChicago. Maybe he could help

Welcome to Illinois. We were at Nationals, and are anxious to help get the Invitational off the ground ASAP. We have many volunteers who are dedicated to SO who we could also enlist. Please PM me if when you have time and I will forward you my cell so we can communicate more directly.
