Ummm...I have a very different answer. Where exactly did you get your answer?

Primary ecological succession occurs in a complete barren area? (kinda forgot what the exact wording), but examples are like after a volcano eruption. Secondary succession occurs in areas that aren't completely destroyed (like forests after a wildfire)
