Water Quality B/C

Post by Jim_R »

-The path of the Administrator is beset on all sides by the inequities of the selfish and the tyranny of evil men.

-Nothing\'s gonna get deleted. We\'re gonna be like three little Fonzies here. And what\'s Fonzie like? Come on, what\'s Fonzie like?
-Cool?
-Correctamundo. And that\'s what we\'re gonna be. We\'re gonna be cool. Now, I\'m gonna count to three, and when I count three, you let go of your mouse, and back away from the keyboard. But when you do it, you do it cool. Ready? One... two... three.

According to what was done at the Summer Camp, there will be an identification portion to the event. Still not sure whether or not there is a salinometer.

Here are the rules for the 2006 version of the event.
ornithology, forestry, entomology, triple E, green generation, water quality, dynamic planet (lakes & rivers), awesome aquifers, meteorology, robot arm, write it do it. :)
A cone of depression occurs when you drop your scoop of ice cream on the ground on a hot summer day.

The last known rules don't allow for any resources besides a non-programmable calculator - however, that is how ecology started, and eventually a notesheet was allowed. I wonder how they will do it this year.

the questions (from really old practice tests) seem relatively easy, basic chem knowledge. the ID (if it's gonna be there) might be the hardest part. and judging from the NY state schedule, it's a sign-up event so there probably will be a build/lab involved.

The lab will probably be 1) the Salinometer being tested and 2) actual testing of water quality (using hydrometers, Secchi discs, TDS meters, ph paper, etc)

I heard, in the beginning, that a lightbulb system might work. The only issue is, it's probably not sensitive enough...
It's so easy, even a Badger could do it.

Probably safety precautions - we will probably deal with a lot of water. Don't want that in your eyes!
