Hello everyone! Zoe and I (Arman) are excited to announce that we will be running the first annual Penn State Invitational! This tournament will follow the mini-SO model, and there will be 22 events held. Of these 22, 2 events will be dropped to account for inconveniences with competing online, and to help create a more accurate representation of teams ranks. To add to the fun experience, Fermi Questions and Picture This will be held as pure trial events which will not impact team score. Below are some important dates regarding the competition:

Date of Competition: February 6th, 2021
Registration opens October 25th
Payment deadline: December 1st, 2020
Team limit: 60 (3 max per school)
Website:
https://scilympiad.com/psuscioly

Contact us at sciolyatpsu@gmail.com if you have any further questions

We are looking forward for this and are hoping everyone available is able to register!

Good evening SOAPS people!
I have a few announcements regarding changes to our invitational:
  • Team cap has been raised to 80
  • Awards will now be given to the top 8 placements for both medals and trophies
  • We will follow an open time block format
With the change to open time blocks we hope to reduce potential technical errors with the Scilympiad website on competition day, since there will be many teams accessing the website at the same time. Also, since teams are located in multiple time zones, they will now have the flexibility to space out their events as they would like. "Build events" will still be self scheduled, and we will send out the details for that at a later date. If you are interested in competing, register your team as soon as possible because the spots are filling fast!

Register here:
https://scilympiad.com/psuscioly/Reg/School
(Only 5 spots left!)

Hello all!

With only 4.5 weeks until SOAPS (!!!) we are so excited to host everyone!

However, we are looking for volunteer graders to help us meet our goal of having our awards ceremony the following evening. SOAPS is on Saturday, Feb 6th and awards are going to be the next day, the night of the 7th, so we could really use your help!

Volunteer grading positions are open to both alumni and any Division C competitor whose school is not competing at SOAPS.

The events we need graders for are as follows: Circuit Lab, Cybersecurity, Detector Building, Experimental Design, Geologic Mapping, Machines, Ornithology, and Water Quality.

If you are able to help, please either DM me on Discord @flowersforzoe#1145 or email sciolyatpsu@gmail.com (I never check my DMs on scioly.org) because we would absolutely love to have you!

We cannot wait to host everyone next month:))

-Zoe
