Worst books
What is the worst book that you have read? If you haven't read any bad books, then what is the worst book that you haven't read?

Re: Worst books
Obvious answer for me is The Egypt Game. Read it in 6th grade language arts, it's just 200 pages about a bunch of kids pretending to be in Egypt, as they play in a box in their backyard...that's seriously the entire plot.

Re: Worst books
Great Expectations. Had to read it during the summer for 9th grade. Waste of my time. Almost everybody in my class hated it. My friends and I wanted to have a huge bonfire and burn our books on like the last day of school but we never did.

Re: Worst books
The Egypt Game was pretty bad, as someone mentioned earler.
But the two worst books I ever read were Swallowing Stones and Somewhere in the Darkness.
Swallowing Stones was about a boy who got a rifle for his 17th birthday, and he shot it into the air. It came down a mile later and killed a guy on his roof The rest of the book was how he was really depressed and guilty and he fell in love with the guy's daughter. And the book ends with him resolving to tell that he was the one who killed her dad, but we never see him actually do it.
Somewhere in the Darkness was worse. It was about a kid who's dad breaks out of jail 9 years into a 10 year sentence (yes, he broke out when he had 1 year left after serving 9). The dad wants to prove that he was innocent for the armed robbery/murder he was accused of, and his alibi was that he was gonna do it with the people that actually did do it, but he broke a tooth and was in the dentist that day (seriously). So he drags his kid from Brooklyn to Arkansas so he can find the guy who really committed the crime. The guy finally says "Oh fine, you're right, you had nothing to do with it", and the dad's all happy. Then he gets into a fight with his son, he apologizes later, and then he dies for absolutely no reason. The book ends with the kid calling his mom in brooklyn, asking if he can picked up from Arkansas.
I had to read these for the Battle of the Books, a reading trivia competition, and these were the worst books I ever read.
