I find it hard to believe that any college that can host the National science Olympiad can not do better. It will require a major change of tactics for teams that are not getting around 4 min flights. Blind dumb luck will be a major factor.

Although this may seem like a bad flying room, if it is similar to the one used at the Cornell invitational, it actually a pretty good room to be run in. However things to consider:
The light bars, there were multiple teams that got stuck on these bars, with some even ripping their mylar on them.
To get the best flight, one must get the plane to land in an aisle or the front or back of the room, such that it does not land on a chair.
Small circle planes will benefit here, and the cat whisker will be a good strategy so as to not have the prop hitting the ceiling.
Possible that bigger props will also do well here, remember matching rubber to prop is the biggest thing in this event.
