States sending two teams

Well, Florida is sending two teams. Or rather hosting two teams since it is in Florida(If that makes any sense?)

I thought they were hosting 60?
Florida is sending two teams to U of CF so I guess "sending" would be okay to use

Sort of makes you want to gather some kids off the street and register another dozen or so teams just to bump the numbers up. You know the East Middle School Mime Club SO Team, the St. Andrew's Middle School Saxophone Section SO Team, the Laura Ingalls Wilder Fan Club SO Team, etc.

We're also hoping two teams...

Hilarious post! Idea could work, given enough money, except they try to keep numbers secret (but anyone looking over competitions can easily figure it out) I'm waiting for the "Uncle Fester Memorial High School"

Dang, looks like a brand new competing school in Oklahoma won, which makes me believe they will want to go to nationals since it would be their 1st time. Oh well, just makes things a million times more difficult

That's very interesting. Do you have a link somewhere, or a team name? And did they compete in a neighboring state or did they host their own state tournament? Could be another Arkansas-like revival.

Yes, there would be information available on the internet. In all likelyhood, a state that drops its spot would drop out within a week of state competition or at a fairly close date so that Science O could inform the next state in line about the change. I believe it says on the form (http://www.scienceolympiad2012.com/wp-c ... n-Form.pdf) for any team that wins State Competition that the form must be filled out online and returned to the State Director within a week. If a state does drop a spot, you could find out on the national website and the national tournament website who would update the team numbers as soon as they become available (at least to my knowledge)

Hm, here's a curious question - if one team drops, Washington gets a second spot. However, if two teams happen to drop (which is definitely possible), who does the second team go to? New Jersey, Minnesota, Kansas and Wisconsin each have 66 teams - what determines the nationals spot between those if the situation were to arise?
