Just saying
Because, no offense, but their team kind of fell apart. All of their ninth graders left, and so did their coaches. Plus the whole Battery Buggy incident. Maybe the same sort of thing happened to Northshore.
I mean, Northshore seems to be more than one event bomb away from qualifying...
Eagle Hill got 15th in WIDI, 10th in Optics, and 10th in Dynamic Planet. Even so, NY States was very close, the top 3 teams also bombed events. I doubt Washington was the same.
8th grade: I knew stuff about rocks, minerals, experiments, and ecosystems!
9th grade: I knew stuff about amphibians, reptiles, freshwater, and experiments!
10th grade: I knew stuff about oceanography, saltwater, birds, and fossils!
11th grade: I knew stuff about birds and fossils!

Also, Northshore almost got 3rd i think (tiebrakers?). But were pretty far off from 2nd.

Wasn't Northshore at 2017 nats? Why are they getting 4th?
The tests at state were very basic. Way too short and way too much time on them. It made it very hard for good teams to place in events that they normally dominate. This in turn made it hard to separate the different skill levels. I do not know if this was one of the factors for Northshore's 4th place but it was a factor that effected placing for my team.

Vermont seems to be pretty organized. It should be interesting to see how they grow.

Vermont C
1. South Burlington High School (55) - qualifies for the 2018 National Tournament

2. St. Johnsbury Academy (58)
3. St. Johnsbury Academy (100)
3. Peoples Academy (100)

Wow, that's close. I wonder if St. Johnsbury would've won on superscore.

Can't help but feel bad for teams that miss nationals by one point. Even then any team that comes within 5 points wonders what could have been improved on.

While I agree with this statement, there is also an advantage to the same team winning 23 years in a row, with similar tests given at the state tournament every year.

The statement i believe was supposed to be saracastic.... Horrible tests make it very hard to differentiate mediocre teams from good teams, and good teams from great teams. This can lead to teams that normally place top three in an event now placing top 8 in it at the state level.
