I am going to interrupt this chain to say that this is an EXTREMELY inappropriate and insensitive question to ask. If someone has witnessed death, DO YOU THINK THEY WANT TO BE DISCUSSING IT ON AN ONLINE FORUM???? I personally have not experienced this, but for someone who did, congratulations, you probably just made them cry and brought back terrible memories.
You can step on a bug and it will count. I didn't put any specifics
The implication with the question is that you are referring to human death. The fact that you are trying to cover up and justify your statement instead of apologizing is disturbing.

I changed up the question. I would try to not do anything like this again.

Again, I still don't see an apology to anyone whose feelings you may have hurt by conjuring up painful memories. This says something about character...

Just hopping in to say that putting other's emotions and traumas and needs above your own pride when you make a mistake is an important life skill to learn. I would hope it's not a difficult one. It takes maturity to acknowledge that apologizing is not detrimental to your dignity, but rather the opposite.

Just gonna put this out there- just because you didn't say any specifics doesn't mean people won't think of human death. I just happened to read that post, and I didn't want to further promote talking about it, because it makes me sad. Just made me remember of some stuff that I would never want other people to go through.

Can I also just say that the question in WYR about whether the person below you would rather eat you or a dog was really inappropriate as well? You're implying that someone has to choose between being a cannibal and eating their pet. Even if it isn't the intended meaning for either question, it still hurts people, and saying that "Oh, it's just a joke!" just makes you even more insensitive and insecure of the fact that you can't accept that you screwed up. If you think saying that you weren't specifically implying it or just joking can justify reminding someone of the loss of a loved one or have them imagine eat their pet as a joke, then I suggest you leave this site. We're here to talk about science and have fun, not this.

First of all, I do understand that what Efesa said was a bit sensitive, although this should have been settled in PMs. Finally, this conversation is over

anyways. . . . .

This is not an issue for PMs, this is something important that involves anyone whom he may have offended. I'm not asking for an apology for myself, I am asking for one for people who had or have been grieving a loss that may be affected by his comments.

I will continue the thread

TPBM is Efesa, who seems to have possibly ignored notifs from this thread given that he posted in another thread after everything here had been posted
