I think we were allowed. I think i remember that my coach had to check the even coordinater to make sure be we were allowed. And does anyone know the line the rule is on?
Last year it was a clarification, so since that's technically applicable to only the national tournament, and although most states and regions adopt those clarifications, your region may have done differently.

For WS anyway...I'd assume BLG was the same.

For those mentioning tissue paper...don't use regular tissue paper, but use Japanese Tissue. Call every hobby shop in your area and see if you can find it (there's one close to me that actually carries it) or get it online.

It's much better than regular tissue paper. Lighter, and more adaptable to the plane wings.

OK, finally had time to check.

There is NO opaque surface requirement in this years rules!

Yep, just checked a THIRD time. NO OPAQUE SURFACE REQUIREMENT THIS YEAR.

If you think I missed it, please quote me chapter and verse (Ie copyright date of your rules, page number, paragaph number, sentence number) because I am one of the regional, state and national supervisors and I'd HATE to get it wrong.

Disclaimer, even though I'm an event supervisor, nothing I say on this list is official, I'm just trying to make sure I didn't miss anything, even after my fourth check today.

If anyone has a copy of the final rules can you please post the basic rules, like wingspan, weight, etc. because I still didn't get the final copy of the rules and I want to start building by tomorrow.

I KNOW i cant find it either, that's why i said it a few times on this thread. I think it was on the drafts though. oh wait i have the drafts........... this is what the DRAFT RULES SAY, NOT THE REAL ONES.
draft rules wrote: *THIS IS NOT THE ACTUALL RULES* Each airplane must be labeled in such a way as to be easily identified by the event
supervisor. At least one surface on the airplane (such as a fin) must be colored or tinted
in an area with a minimum measurement of 6.0 cm x 6.0 cm square of non-white
coloring so it can be identified at the top of its flight. *THIS IS NOT THE REAL RULES*
Thus it could be concluded that IF it would be in the real rules it would be in line 2g but it's not. So i think this needs some clarification on the soinc.org.

If it's not in the rules, no clarification should be required...

Nope, no clarification needed. The draft rules are just that, draft. And last years rules are equally irrelevant. The ONLY rules with any meaning for competition are the final rules published in the official rulebooks for this year.

There are many drafts of all the rules, if SO tried to issue clarifications about all the differences between the final and the many versions of the drafts, it would fill several old paper style encyclopedic volumes.

Folks, throw away all those draft rules your coaches picked up over the summer, they are a disqualification begging to happen. Get and use ONLY the current official rules. If you are a part of a paid up regular team your coach should have gotten 15 copies at least.
