Send Troy.
What about Div. B
Have a small tournament with only the top 5 contenders.

I'm only partly kidding.
thats a really good idea

Hold the state tournament in a different state.

That’ll definitely help

I don't think the problem really is the area, I think it's the fact that a large group of people (some of whom may be potentially sick) will come together and infect others. I assume Caltech cancelled because of that: they don't want to risk it. If they don't want to have people there, neither would another venue.

Plus it takes months, maybe even a year to plan a state tournament.
Finally an alumnus!

I was joking, but yes, I agree.

Here is a synopsis based upon data collected from the COVID-19 cases in China:

Only 8.1% of cases were 20-somethings, 1.2% were teens, and 0.9% were 9 or younger. The World Health Organization mission to China found that 78% of the cases reported as of Feb. 20 were in people ages 30 to 69. Data suggest that the death rate for people <30 years of age is below 0.2%.

Because the US Healthcare system is better than China's, one would expect better outcomes here in the United States.

Just out of curiosity, by what measure? Most likely just me being ignorant.

Just a suggestion, maybe there could be a tournament for state that has only the 1st place winners from each regional. This would solve the problem for a lot of population, as this would only be a small number of schools. I think that there are 7 regionals, meaning only 7 schools.

I don't like this idea. Both of the best div b teams compete at the same regional, so it wouldn't even really be fair.

Hello SoCal! New York State is organizing an online tournament to replace our cancelled state tournament. We thought maybe you would like to do the same. Maybe NY competitors can sign up to write tests for SoCal and SoCal competitors can write tests for NY. Let me know what you think. Check out the NY forum for more details.

(I’m one of those New Yorkers)
Can we create a combined forum thread so it is easier for us to collaborate? I have posted this on the New York thread also.
