i've had problems with gorilla glue, it doesn't hold very well

I've used liquid nail's silicone glue for plastics. It was actually what I used to glue my barrel onto my traj device too, if you get enough on it'll hold.

I found Loctite silicone adhesive worked very well. It adhered to the smooth bottle very well (important as you cannot rough up the bottle to glue to it). It also was, as is true for many silicone based glues, somewhat flexible, which allowed the glue to absorb some of the shock if the fins hit the ground, making it less likely for a fin to fall off than with brittle glue.

I got the recommendation from a guy I know who builds multi-stage water rockets. He uses it for adhering most things to the bottles.

I was using silicone glue last year and decided to try out polyurethane. Polyurethane is better for the type of materials that I am using in my opinion. What I like about the polyurethane based glue is that it seems to be stronger than the silicone based glue that I was previously using.

I found that the silicone would hold things together, but it was heavy and soft (for weeks). Fins that can move are not a good thing. What is the PL glue like for stiffness and weight?

I couldn't find the PL in a decent size so I decided I would try gorilla glue. I have never been a promoter of gorilla glue, but so far it has proved decent. The only problem is initially getting things to dry, once they are dry they are set nicely.

I had that problem last year with the silicone glue. I used it to attach the fins but after it dried out i noticed that it was flimsy. Because of that, I had to add even more glue. The Polyurethane seems to be stronger, and i don't have to use as much polyurethane glue to attach the fins as i did with the silicone glue.

Attaching fins to the rocket is the most tedious part of building the Egg-O-Naut mainly because of having to wait for the glue to dry. The Polyurethane takes a while before it is guaranteed that the fin will stay in position. I would say about an hour, and it takes even longer for the glue to reach maximum strength.

I really do think that Polyurethane based glues are better for attaching the fins. I also think that it depends on what material you are using for the fins.

Does anyone have launch times?
