I'm always amused how predictions are so close to the year before's results

Maybe because history repeats itself?

Due to Science Olympiad's nature as a 23-event team competition, natural variance in team rankings is fairly low. Historical trends are fairly good predictors.

The fact that Ohio cancelled state with three coronavirus cases worries me. Indiana currently has six, and the number seems to be growing rather quickly. I hope we can hold out for another week and a half.

Most of the states that have canceled have had a problem with the host of the tournament saying no to the science olympiad teams, not the other way around. If the place that is hosting doesn't kick you out, you guys should be having a tournament.

Well I just got an email from Mitch Daniels (Purdue’s president) that our classes are being moved online right after spring break (which is next week) and that all university-sponsored events including student organization ones are being suspended until May. It’s only a matter of time till an announcement on whether state is postponed or entirely cancelled will come.
