Good job lobbying for UNG Dahlonega! No Brookwood, Northview or Parkview yet.Unome wrote:Hyped for regional signups tomorrow, and also for Rockdale later this week! Looking forward to seeing scores.

Quick rundown for those who don't want to read the signups, as of 9:40 PM (all are IMO of course):
Division B:
- Flat Rock, who placed 6th at state in 2015 but didn't make top ten last year, seems like the current top team at Columbus State (although note that Bennett's Mill and perennial regional champion Blackmon Road, who usually go here, have not yet signed up)
- J.C. Booth and Five Forks are both at Coweta County, rematching from last year
- Chamblee, Hightower Trail, River Trail, Lakeside, and Campbell are all at Forsyth County; looks to be a tough battle for state bids
- Vickery Creek and Oconee County (the third and fourth place teams at state last year) are both in Oconee County GYSTC, same as last year
- South Effingham, who until last year was a perennial regional champion, is probably the best team at Georgia Southern
- Kittredge Magnet (5th in the state last year and perennially top ten, along with South Forsyth and Trickum, are probably the top schools at Georgia State
- Perennial state powerhouses Dodgen and FSA are at UNG Gainesville as expected, along with Eagles Home Educators and Stephens County (usual) and Rising Starr (unusual)
- Brookwood, Northview, Parkview, and Walton (all top ten in the state for many years) have all yet to sign up, so things could definitely change depending on where they go
- GSMST looks to be the top team at GPC, with Rockdale, Alpharetta, Thomas County, Eagles Home Educators, and Starr's Mill likely making up the second tier
- Milton is probably the top team at Georgia Tech again, albeit against lessened competition: the next best team is probably either Augusta Area Homeschoolers (who will be riding their peak Div B teams right about now) or Columbus
- McIntosh is the clear top team at Gordon State College, with Northgate or Paideia the likely second place team
- My best guesses: Forsyth Central, Pope, Kennesaw Mountain, Riverwood International, and Westminster Atlanta seem like the top teams at KSU-Poly. FSA's newly-formed Division C team is the wild card here, since they have yet to compete
- North Springs and East Coweta stand out at MGSU, although Parkview went here last year, so this might change
- Duluth moves in to face off against last year's regional champion Johns Creek, with a possibility for Oconee County or North Oconee to make it to state
- Chattahoochee is the top team here, quite far above any of the other teams right now, but Brookwood, Northview, and Walton have yet to sign up, so we will see how this goes
- Parkview is now at GPC (following GSMST )
- West Forsyth and North Gwinnett are at KSU-Poly
- Brookwood and Walton are at UNG-Dahlonega
- Durham, who beat out Crews at regionals last year, is now at Forsyth County
- Crews returns to UNG-Gainesville (which will likely get 4 state bids, leaving out either them, Eagles, or Rising Starr)
Yeah I noticed it was a bit late. Hope you got your first choice!BrS wrote:never mind!BrS wrote:does anyone know where to sign up for regions? my coach can't find the link on the bottom of the high school and middle school page.
Yeah, was surprised to see that they weren't on there yet (same with Walton). Btw I'm guessing you chose KSU-Poly for Div C because of the low competitiveness?rfscoach wrote:Good job lobbying for UNG Dahlonega! Re: Georgia 2017
Yeah, seeing as the team is brand-new and all. Any thoughts on how Rockdale's going to go this weekend? I noticed the UGA math tournament conflicts again, so I'm thinking GSMST probably won't be at full strength (not sure about Brookwood though).rfscoach wrote:Well, half the battle is strategery.Unome wrote:Btw I'm guessing you chose KSU-Poly for Div C because of the low competitiveness?

Re: Georgia 2017
Rockdale Results! Note that Rockdale only runs 16 events (primarily non-builds).
Update: Now with medal tallies! (1st/2nd/3rd/4th)
1. Brookwood A (58 - 4/5/0/2)
2. Brookwood B (72 - 4/2/1/1)
3. GSMST Blue (84 - 1/3/4/1)
4. Milton Red (100 - 0/3/1/1)
5. Duluth A (108 - 1/0/2/2)
6. Parkview A (111 - 1/1/5/0)
7. East Coweta Gold (115 - 2/1/0/3)
8. Milton Blue (125 - 2/1/1/1)
9. Rockdale A (147 - 0/0/1/1)
10. Forsyth Central (160 - 0/0/0/1)
Unome's Random Thoughts (because why not give my ramblings a name? ):

Unome's Random Thoughts (because why not give my ramblings a name? ):
- For the most part, these scores won't really be too useful in predicting anything, since a) it's October, b) seven events weren't run (and they are mostly builds), and c) the UGA math competition was today, so some of these teams (especially GSMST) would have probably lost some people to there.
- Brookwood pretty much ran away with it, winning half of the total gold medals between their two teams (and medaling in all but 2 events), whereas last year they placed 4th and 5th.
- Although GSMST beat Milton, Milton definitely had split teams, with each team winning five medals each; however, as noted above, GSMST probably had several people at the UGA math competition today.
- Although Duluth won last year and Parkview won the year before, both teams seem to be about as good as in previous years, since their lower placing is probably more a consequence of Brookwood and Milton getting better. Neither had a second team in the top ten however, so it seems to me like Milton is still quite a bit ahead of the competition.
- East Coweta's score is particularly impressive coming off of a regional tournament placement outside of the top 5, when they were expected to be in the top 3 at least. Then again, they were doing about as well throughout the invitational season last year as well.
- Rockdale looks to be about as good as last year, finishing a solid amount ahead of Forsyth Central.

Re: Georgia 2017
So has anyone else gotten any other info for UGA? We have nothing but the schedule from early in the month; no room numbers, homebases, team list, or a map. Anyone else?

Re: Georgia 2017
Hype time!
UGA team list:
Brookwood High School (2)
Cedar Springs Homeschool
Chattahoochee High School (2)
Duluth High School (2)
East Coweta High School (2)
Fulton Science Academy
Johns Creek High School (2)
Meadowcreek High School
Newnan High School (2)
North Gwinnett High School (2)
North Springs Charter High School
Northview High School
Parkview High School (2)
Southeast Bulloch High School
Starr’s Mill High School
Walton High School
Whitewater High School
Woodward Academy (2)
Total: 27
Looks like the buildings for events and homerooms are much closer together this year (although how big is the SLC Lobby to be able to fit all of the building events?)
Does anyone know what the location for awards is like? The schedule just says "Pharmacy" with no mention of which Pharmacy building, nor a room number or other identifier like last year.
