That's already been said like 8 times. You are not adding anything new here.

You probably don't need a really super special motor or anything, particularly if you are doing something like a wingnut + switch stopping mechanism.

As has been mentioned, if you have an RC car that you are not using, you can scrounge one from there and maybe use the chassis and gearbox too.
If you are only interested in a motor or a motor and gearbox and not in the chassis, they are cheap enough I'd just buy/order one.

Until you know more about the rules and especially what voltage and battery limits will be in play, there's not a reason to go beyond just looking around at motors and some basic research.

Re-chargeable screwdrivers nave a super powerful motor and planetary gearbox.The batteries usually give out long before the motor and gearbox, so you might be able to scrounge one for FREE.

They have lots of torque and their output speed is close to what's needed. You can change the vehicle's speed, if necessary, by changing the wheel diameter or adding another gearbox in series. It's fairly easy to couple them to the driven wheel/axle with a long screwdriver bit or a piece of 1/4" hex rod.

You don't need a prefabricated chasis, you probably can't use one anyway because it's against the rules. You just need a couple of small pieces of wood or metal and some wheels and axles. Then you just have to ad a place to put batteries and a motor or two and a switch and you're good

How drastic would changes be? I know that they've changed voltage a lot, as well as size, but is there anything else major that they would change?

For my vehicle, I found a gear to attach to my motor, but it doesn't fit tightly.
I suspect this would cause a problem... should i get another gear or will it still work?

(sorry this is my first time building anything...)

what is your definition of not fitting tightly
does the gear fall of if you have it attached to the motor and flip it upsidedown??
