I mean, your second answer could be wayyyyyy more specific, but other than that, you're good.MattChina wrote:kate! wrote:1. What is the difference between Batesian and Mullerian mimicry? 2. Eutrophication increased dissolved oxygen in the water

Re: Ecology B/C
This sounds like a stupid question but its valid. Why are deserts so dry?

Re: Ecology B/C
Deserts are so dry because there is very little precipitation/humidity.

Wind traveling there cannot pick up moisture.MattChina wrote:but why is there little precipitation and humiditykate! wrote:Deserts are so dry because there is very little precipitation/humidity.

1. What is the difference between survivorship curves and the life table? Name and describe the three curves and three types of life tables. 2. Why are there different soil types in the cold deserts and the tundra, and what are their respective soil types? 3. Name 2 natural causes of NO[sub]x[/sub]/SO[sub]2[/sub] and 2 causes by humans.

Re: Ecology B/C
Why would wind (do you mean the warm desert air?) not "be able" to pick up moisture? Shouldn't warm air have the capacity to hold more water then cold? Based on that fact alone, warm air should be able to accommodate a whole mess of water. Correct?MattChina wrote:ok sure Your turnkate! wrote:Wind traveling there cannot pick up moisture.MattChina wrote: but why is there little precipitation and humidity

This website explains that in these cells, only dry air is descending on deserts, since cool air descends and is able to hold less moisture.

Thanks Kate. I do understand, having taught Earth Science for many years, but I was hoping to get student responses (rather than a link) on this beyond the "wind traveling there cannot pick up moisture" since they will be taking the State test next week Thanks again!kate! wrote:https://cals.arizona.edu/~lmilich/dry.htmldrcubbin wrote: Why would wind (do you mean the warm desert air?) not "be able" to pick up moisture?
