Oh my bad, the details I posted were for my official flights at JC. I think I started going for his record 2 hours before I left(lol) and got to around 9:10 or something? Coach Chuck's kids beat me by a good minute and a half without trying, which is predictable. I basically chose a random rubber width, length and just flewbjt4888 wrote: ↑July 24th, 2023, 12:21 am Cat,
11:26 is very good with 1.5 g of rubber. Trying for the F1M National record was a good idea.

This is the “build and fly” SO Summer Build Clinic. They’re calling it a “deep dive” into each event. I can understand if teams can’t afford the time and $’s for the Summer Institute. We’ll be building a simple airplane with about 60 coaches and then flying it to teach trimming, rubber winding and testing strategy. I’m also bringing materials to demonstrate more advanced ideas if there is an interest (rubber stripping, flaring propellers, propeller pitch testing, etc.). You’ve already made good progress on these advanced concepts.
Time to build an F1D (maybe an F1L, EZB or mini stick first).

The clinic sounds really cool! I can't ever see my coaches having the patience to do something like that but it's really amazing that you and Dave Lindley are doing this I feel like a lot of coaches have given up on Flight at this point(and seeing the drafts for next year, I'm a bit concerned as well...).
Hahah maybe not an F1D... They're very scary :0 I think I'll probably build a ministick when school starts and bring that to some competitions. Working on winding better and taking better logs!
