How do/would you study for Entomology? Like what do you usually focus on first? And then what would be least important to you...Soemthing like that..I'm trying to see how others study, abd see if their way would help me study...My way of studying isn't that good, so yeah.. :D
I think ID is the most important thing to study, because if you can do ID quickly but you don't know any of the other facts and such, you can still get by on efficiently using your field guide and cheat sheet. (That may or may not have been what happened to me at Invitationals hehe... I don't think I knew any of the non-ID questions and I still got third because I had so much time after doing the ID questions quickly to look through my notes and guide. I don't advise doing this though of course, but if you're really pressed for time, just learn ID as well as you can.) To study ID I suggest either doing the picture test on here over and over again, or(this is more effective but more boring and more time consuming) you can do what I did: go through each order and family and handwrite characteristics, draw body shapes, record certain patterns in colors, shapes, body position, etc. that you see. You can either look pictures up online or use your field guide. It's crucial to handwrite them for all(yes, ALL) 130 orders and families, it really helps you memorize them. Especially since the traits you write down are ones that YOU yourself notice easily.

Woah, You handwrite all of them :o
I just typed them out, and that was basically my notes sheet. The tester is really really really really helpful. Eventually you don't even have to think anymore; you already know the answer.
I really hope they make a tester for fossils.

You're welcome! :D

I'm so glad more Ento people other than me are doing Fossils next year. And if they don't get around to making a tester for it, I guess we'll just spam the Fossils Question Marathon.

(Does anyone else remember when someone I think on "Ask a question to the person below you" asked about what people meant when they said "they" without specifying who "they" was? I just realized we referred to "they" as the admins and people who make the testers(people or person? Does anyone else help with the tester other than balsa? I have no clue.)

So are any ento people doing fossils other than me, ceg, and humanbeingofearth548?
The same people seem to do the ID events :D
I bet there are a lot of people from Rocks doing it also.

Meh, I'll probably like Fossils, but I've never liked any of the other ID events.

I've heard...that the other ID events were (super) hard..But I knew the birds was hard...XD But I've never tried the tree one..or rocks and minerals..

Do you guys know when the list will come out?
I've looked on soinc.com and I see the old list, but not the new one.
