Solon looking reallly really good this year. 9 golds, 17 events with both teams placing. Wouldn't be surprised if they returned to the top 3 at nationals, especially with it being at Wright State in Ohio.
Also s/o to Beachwood for sliding into the top 6!
How come Mason, Centerville, and Mentor didn't compete? Was there another Ohio invite today?

I'm not sure about Centerville or Mason, but I'm pretty sure (not 100% but pretty sure) Mentor did compete. They just didn't include themselves in the scores since it's their own invitational.

Yup Solon does this at their invite as well. Speaking of Solon Invite, has anyone who attended gotten tests and keys yet?
We (Mason) didn't go because half our team has solo and ensemble and our coaches can't make it.

Hope S&E went well! We'd love to see you here next year!

Not sure what to think of
Piqua's individual event award policy.
An additional modification from normal invitationals involves awarding medals for individual events. We are going to award the top 6 schools in each event with medals. For example, if your school has two teams and they finish 3rd and 4th overall, then your 3rd place team will be awarded the medals, and the 5th place team will be awarded 4th place medals. This is typically the practice for the overall invitational winners, we are just doing this for the individual awards as well. We are doing this in an attempt to have more schools called up during awards.
I'm not going to Piqua, but I think that this is an interesting modification. Anyone here going to Piqua this weekend?

I actually think this is a good idea, in theory. It's always a good thing to give recognition to more schools, in my mind, as it can serve as a motivating factor to develop new programs. I do see the disadvantage in that some schools may have two teams finish top two in an event and only one will medal, but as long as this only happens at select tournaments, and doesn't become a global change, it'll be fine.

I pretty much agree with this exactly. My B ranks would probably look like:
1. Solon
2. Tower Heights
3. Magsig
4. Mentor Ridge
5. Watts

Potential discussion – correlation between the date of the Ohio state tournament and Ohio teams' results at Nationals
I don't think the correlation has much relevance, but hopefully there'll be some interesting discussion.
