Re: Ornithology B/C
I think they usually do a binder in the 1st year of events, so... Overall I kind of like not having a whole lot of resources, as it means you can just study harder than others.

My my, all the things that are wrong with this...gyourkoshaven wrote:I think they usually do a binder in the 1st year of events, so... Overall I kind of like not having a whole lot of resources, as it means you can just study harder than others.
Last year was the first year in my (up until and including 2009) 5 years of olympiad, every single nature ID event has allowed a binder. I also know that before I was here, birds had a binder before forestry.
Also making a good binder requires an enormous amount of studying, and really differentiates teams based upon how much time they have put into their event and their binder. To say that not having resources makes you able to win by studying more easily is a fundamentally flawed statement.
Events: Herpetology, Fossils, Entomology, Rocks & Minerals, Ornithology, Ecology
Nationals 2008: 1st in Herpetology
Nationals 2009: 1st in Herpetology, 2nd in Fossils
Harriton Class of 2010
Nationals 2008: 1st in Herpetology
Nationals 2009: 1st in Herpetology, 2nd in Fossils
Harriton Class of 2010

Wow, that's a lot of birds.
Instinct is telling me to memorize them all, right now, but alas, I've graduated and can no longer do scio.
/sad.

Re: Ornithology B/C
but I would have to say relying on ONLY a binder is very weak, and most of the time doesn't allow for a lot of studying for this many species and information. We'll just have to make do with what they allow.soobsession wrote:if theyre going to only allow a field guide, im going to be very mad.
Nerds rule. Nerds are awesome. Nerds will someday (soon) rule the world. And you know it.
