I thought that tower was the Troy B team tower?

It was not Mason, but it was a team that did finish in the top six in the event.

The team was Montgomery (not sure if it was A or B) and they placed either 2nd or 3rd.

rule 6.b says: The Load Score is the measured load supported, including the Loading Block Assembly, bucket and sand, but may not exceed 15,000 g. The lowest Load Scored is the mass of the Loading Block Assembly.

Note that it says Loading Block Assembly, not Loading Block.

The Loading Block Assembly must consist of:i.asquare Loading Block measuring 5 cm x 5 cm x approximately 2 cm high with a hole no larger than 8 mm drilled in the center of the 5 cm x 5 cm faces for a ¼” threaded eyeboltii.¼” threaded eyebolt (1” nominal eye outside diameter), no longer than 3”, and a ¼” wing nutiii.achain and S-hook that are suspended from the Loading Block


Unless your tower can hold the entire assembly, which is way more than a tiny loading block (assuming it is wood), it really should have no score. If you have no load score, you have no bonus, and the score is 0 or tier 4.
Now, it also means you must put the chain and S hook through the tower, and the chain can be heavy or light.

if a tower can accomplish all that, it would be tier 1 and meet the rules (let's set aside the spirit of the rules). If not, it should be tier 4 (or at least score of 0)

MIT would not make an error in rules like that. I'm sure they went through the rules very, very thoroughly and thus it should have held all of its adequate parts.

Getting deeper into the season, I am interested in the best scores people are getting for C towers. My high scores are in the 1700s, frustrating my efforts of breaking 2k. In most invites I have been to, this has been enough for a medal but we will see at Umich.

1700s would have been first at the West Ottawa invite and 8th at Solon.

Score = 1087

Base broke first, so I guess I have to focus on getting the base even because it was slightly off when I was setting it up.

Managed to net 3rd place, but most of the schools there did not try with their towers...
