I was dying to see how high my rocket would go at 65 psi. So I took it out to the football field after testing. It was really windy so I took a back up parachute and loaded it on. Set the pressure to 65 and let it rip. Rocket went up, deployed the chute, then it crumpled a bit in the wind and started dropping. Suddenly it opened fully and looked beautiful! Wind was blowing and it was drifting across the field and past the bleachers!. Then I realized, it was going UP!! It kept rising and blowing off in the distance like a Chinese lantern. Realizing I was not going to retrieve it soon, I packed everything into the car and started chasing it. I drove for about 15 min and lost sight of it completely. Gone!
Words cannot express how hard I'm laughing rn

I agree. That is the most scientific prediction in the world.builderguy135 wrote: ↑Sat Feb 29, 2020 8:05 pmMy prediction for every team's PPP placements at norcal states can be found here.

Re: Ping Pong Parachute B/C
It is against the rules but I saw a team at SOUP with a parachute made of aluminized mylar but ig the ES didn't catch it lmao
i guess it depends on the ES but it's still illegal

Wow, those are some bold predictions right there! Maybe switch 1st and 2nd place though?
happy new season!

It's honestly a toss-up. They've both been doing really great this year.pepperonipi wrote: ↑Tue Mar 03, 2020 5:37 pmWow, those are some bold predictions right there! Maybe switch 1st and 2nd place though?

Re: Ping Pong Parachute B/C
I am helping to coach this event and we are not getting over 5 seconds. Can you provide any tips? What is more important the bottle or the parachute?SergioEdwards wrote: ↑Thu Sep 05, 2019 10:36 am I actually did this event as a trial two years ago and we were only allowed to load to 40psi. I found that this gets it up pretty high and we got about 13-15 second launches. I'm hoping to get 30ish second launches this year! good luck everyone!

Re: Ping Pong Parachute B/C
Generally, my first priority would be to get your rocket to a point where it deploys consistlently, 100% of the time regardless of the room height or psi used. Then, you can work on optimizing your parachute to get the slowest descent rate possible.ajimenez wrote: ↑Wed Mar 04, 2020 8:30 pmI am helping to coach this event and we are not getting over 5 seconds. What design are you using right now?
