Early predictions for the Division C State Competition, anyone? It's still a while away which leaves a lot of time for improvement, but here are mine based off all of the recent invitationals and last year's results.

I'm not sure if I would put GNS that low; they've had a very solid invitational season so far.

I'm not super well-versed with NYSO team dynamics, and I don't know what happened at the F-M and Columbia invites, but I'll give a wild prediction a shot:

Really? I was trying to find some other NY invitationals with scores besides Cornell and Islip to help figure out where to place GNS but eventually gave up because I couldn't find results, as with F-M and Columbia like you mentioned. I guess they keep the results private? Maybe I should've expanded my research to invitationals in neighboring states because I could only find one invitational with GNS competing with results. Based on that, I assumed they've gone to fewer invitationals, and as a result would have less competition experience for this season. But if they've gone to more that I can't find, then putting them ahead of Mount Academy seems reasonable. I don't think I'll go as far as to put them ahead of F-M though.

Last year was the first time in 15 years that F-M didn't go to nationals, so I would think that they would work extra hard this year to try to regain their spot? Based off of MIT results, though, it seems like Columbia and Ward Melville are working harder. I don't think GNS will be able to surpass F-M in scores unless they already have at an invitational. But who knows? That's the fun with predictions.

It definitely appears that Columbia and WM are the favorites, but GNS was impressive at Islip and Stoga. I'm not sure if they're going to others this year (perhaps Tiger?), but I think they've shown enough to stay above Mount Academy in predictions at the very least.

GNS was not at Yale. GNS only went to Islip and Conestoga/Battle at Valley Forge this year.

I don't know how many team members went but I would guess the entire team or at least nearly everyone. F-M has only one team from the start of the season to the finish, the team stays the same-15 students. They don't swap around members from a larger pool like some teams do. The team is the team. There is an F-M B team but the members of that team don't switch with the A Team at all. The B team consists of excellent students who, for various reasons, were not placed on the A team this year but will likely comprise the A team for the next academic year. But the same students who compete on the very first invitational remain through the last competition. What about your team? Do they switch around members? Do students swap out depending upon how well they do in an event?

My team didn't have enough people to switch around members.

However, there are lots of stories of other teams that use teams of different compositions at different tournaments to get different people experience. Harriton, for one, sometimes does this, and I'm sure other teams do it.
