Re: Ohio 2016
Random Notes:
Div B
- Solon is looking weaker and Tower Heights is looking stronger (as expected coming off of their win last week).
- Beckendorff appears not to have many event bombs, which leads me to think that they've declined from the last two years.
- Piedmont seems a bit weaker than last year, but it could just be because they haven't been to any previous tournaments with the National event slate.
- SAA looks strong, but I don't think it'll be enough to beat Marie Murphy (but a lot could change in the next two months).
- Springhouse is split to the point where it seems impossible to tell how they would have done with a stacked team.
- Meads Mill seems to be much the same as last year, perhaps a bit weaker.
- Bearden has another strong showing at an invitational (and will likely still not break the top 20 at Nationals...).
Div C
- Solon, Mentor, Mason, and Centerville are all clearly above the rest of the teams, despite all having split teams. It seems like Ohio C will be another four-way showdown.
- International Academy did well, but I'm not sure whether this is Central or East (although I'd bet on Central). Even so, they were stacked but couldn't match either of Solon's split teams.
- Northville did well, and might be able to repeat last year's win over Grand Haven (although it's hard to tell since Grand Haven never goes to invites...)
- Carmel did well, but probably not well enough to beat Munster at State (assuming Munster hasn't gotten drastically worse)

Re: Ohio 2016
I know a lot of people who missed WSU for ACT or OMEA though, and the field wasn't as strong this year as it has been previously, so I don't think it's that great of an indicator. At least for division C.Unome wrote:Random Notes:

On that note, how do you think Ohio Div. C will shape up this year?

Re: Ohio 2016
Although there was only 2 point difference between Solon and Northville here, Solon was far ahead at Wright State. Perhaps they messed up some events this time?

Division C Ohio is looking to be super competitive again, i think whichever teams make it will be top 10 at nationalsUnome wrote:Random Notes:

Also yeah I think all the good people from the teams that got 1st and 2nd at nationals probably went to high school and i heard their coach left so Beckendorff is in decline right now

Re: Ohio 2016
I just want to point out that there were multiple dances, the ACT, OMEA, and Solon's Quiz Bowl (This one I really don't understand...) during Mentor, and that speculation will be thrown off because of the scheduling :/ Thanks!

Re: Ohio 2016
Also, anyone from Region 1, care to comment on how Anatomy and Cell BIo/Invasives and Green Gen conflicts at regionals? And/or how Protein Modeling can conflict with Anatomy and Cell Bio if you're an odd team? Because something about that doesn't seem right to me.

Re: Ohio 2016
That's pretty wonky imo. Dynamic Planet and Green Gen conflict at the state and national level too.inwhite wrote:Also, anyone from Region 1, care to comment on how Anatomy and Cell BIo/Invasives and Green Gen conflicts at regionals?
