there you go.dudeincolorado wrote:ok let me try to clear this up once and for all.... you and some other people go through stations there will be one per person then a team challenge where you all have to work together. at each station you have a physical task to do like throw a plush toy into a trashcan from 10 feet, then you have a scientific task like identify this mineral. it will be like a relay one goes then another and so on you will have a relay object like a chopstick to act like the relay pole thing ok got it?

Re: Pentathalon
This event was ran as a trial at nationals last year. Does anyone know what the top times were? We did this event at my SO meeting today and let me say that it was PATHETIC. We had times of ten minutes and all the stuff was VERY easy. Some examples of academic activities were to measure the length of a table and find the temperature of water. Some examples of physical activities were to dribble a basketball around a table or to go through a hula hoop. At my station the academic activity was to build a pyramid out of four blocks and NO ONE could complete it I would think that the activities would be harder at the actual event and times would be A LOT better than 10 minutes. So does anyone know what the top times were at nationals? the team from my state got 6th place so they are obvioulsy good

Re: Pentathalon
Questions for this event come from all theo other events. For example, there will be questions over Astronomy, Anatomy, etc. You hve to do a challenge, then answer a question. Run the baton to the next person, they do the same. At the end, all have to do a challenge together. It is a fun event, but you do have to be able to answer questions from a range of sciences. Kids love this event, and it does take some pressure off.
