unfortunately. but my least favorite part about both events is that they are always at the same time at states in new york; my partner does both, and i had to use someone else for fossils..

They are always at the same time? I find that hard to believe... you do have a different team number than I do.

for the past three years, the fossils/rocks and minerals event has had the same exact time slot as herpetology/ornithology.

but back on topic, i really hope that they make this list as long as, say ornithology, or at least longer. they've had pretty much the same ones for two years already; i think a change is necessary.

I doubt that will happen. It would be nice to have some expansion, but I think that the list is of the least value. I think the tests need some guidelines for more information.

it tells you what they might ask about and I believe there are even sample questions... what hard to understand, its question about the birds on the list, they can ask anything they want from ID common to list all things from phyllum to genus to habitat to habit to food... what explanation is needed...?

Like telling the writers that they shouldn't focus on taxonomy, but more in-depth questions about the organism.

/facepalm

I kind of like the current system of fossils tests, at least in my state. The goal of the tests would be to make them completely unfinishable, making competitors multitask the questions, or prioritize. It was chock full of information, and personally, i think that kind of format is an ingenius idea. Probably better for sit down tests that stations, but the same values hold true for both, IMHO.
