Yes, there is, unfortunately. Looks like we will be competing amongst the likes of Solon, Kennedy, Troy, etc.

Re: BEARSO Invitational
Competition is approximately 2 weeks away and not many more teams will sign up. Approximately 170 div C teams and 90 div B teams will attend, not much more than that.
I'll be making a prediction form/contest soon, once teams are finalized I guess (with bear's permission of course). I'll also be running an awards spreadsheet during bear's livestream. The spreadsheet will not contain any sort of predicted placement of teams, only medal counts and medals (bear's request).

Re: BEARSO Invitational
I don't think anyone from my slightly above-average school would get a medal. There has to be like at least 80 teams in division B.pepperonipi wrote: ↑Thu Sep 24, 2020 9:58 pmThis invitational is literally going to be so crazy!Efesa wrote: ↑Thu Sep 24, 2020 9:50 pmWait, two weeks? Maybe you guys are great at an event everyone else does relatively worse in :?: some hope can't hurt, right?Efesa wrote: ↑Thu Sep 24, 2020 10:32 pmI don't think anyone from my slightly above-average school would get a medal. Yes, there are a lot of teams in both divisions. Never say never though, you might medal! Good luck!Efesa wrote: ↑Thu Sep 24, 2020 10:32 pmI don't think anyone from my slightly above-average school would get a medal. There has to be like at least 80 teams in division B.

Re: BEARSO Invitational
Don't be so sure about that! If you give up on your team before you even get a chance to prove yourself, it's already over before you begin. But if your mindset is that you can get better, then you're much more prepared to actually become better :)
And in the end, even if you don't medal, at least you learn valuable experience! By acknowledging your team's skill isn't fixed, you show up to the competition better prepared, and that preparation will benefit you in future competitions. Moreover, after you get your results back from BEARSO, with a mindset towards improvement, you'll be able to take charge and go beyond being average, and say "here's how we improve." Good luck!

Re: BEARSO Invitational
Keep in mind, one of the most important parts of this specific Invite is learning how to use the online platform in a legitimate competition setting and figuring out how to work with a partner that is not right next to you. Still, do your best to be prepared for your event and the materials within, but this will be new to ALL of us.EwwPhysics wrote: ↑Fri Sep 25, 2020 7:23 amYes, there are a lot of teams in both divisions. All of our best people graduated last year, but some extra studying might make my team medal in the harder events (e.g. fossils)sneepity wrote: ↑Fri Sep 25, 2020 4:53 amMaybe you guys are great at an event everyone else does relatively worse in some hope can't hurt, right?
